Jon started his career on a two-year Management and Leadership Development Programme with Inchcape, a retail motor-franchise group, after which he was promoted to Sales Manager within the Land Rover franchise at the age of 22.
He subsequently moved into an Area Manager role in the motor-vehicle finance industry with Chartered Trust (now Black Horse Finance) where he managed dealer group and manufacturer relationships and completed his Finance and Leasing Association (FLA) examinations in commercial and financial practice.
His first business venture came when he set up a specialist technology leasing company. This established several high-level agreements with technology vendors who offered the company’s services to commercial clients either directly or through resellers, to help them to procure their solutions.
After a successful trade sale of that business, he spent a short while delivering consultancy and training by individual request before realising there was a significant gap in the market for high quality, flexible and usable leadership and management training.
He established Impellus in 2008 with a set of principles around every training course and qualification; they should be enjoyable, understandable, and deliver real and immediate organisational results. These principles run through every programme the company delivers to this day.
What we do
Everything we do is about encouraging managers, leaders and key team members to consider the power and agency they have to deliver at the highest level.
We’re chosen repeatedly by many of the UK’s leading employers.
The trainer - Alison - was warm, friendly and really knowledgeable. She made everyone feel included and valued throughout. It was helpful to go into breakout rooms to allow for more detailed discussions with people from different sectors and with different experiences.
I learnt so much from the day courses I attended with Impellus. My favourite aspects of attending were:
- Meeting nice, engaging groups of people from all walks of life.
- Learning in a dynamic way and hearing multiple perspectives of the same situation.
- Listening to other people’s work related experiences and seeing how important good communication is for achieving both individual and group success.
Alison was very knowledgeable and engaging. I liked the analysis of our own leadership style and thinking about how to improve our effectiveness score.
What a great initiate to get some kudos from the courses I have just completed and now received my certificate of learning – which I am proudly displaying on my desk. The courses were very interactive and informative, with some really interesting and useful content that I can now use to improve my business management skills.
Our company will reap some rewards from the investment that they have made in offering this course to us senior managers. The tutors are also a credit to the business and make the subjects stimulating and easily put into context in our own businesses for those who attended the course. Well done for providing 1st class courses and especially online which is not so easy.
Very well presented- Mel really knew her stuff! It also helps that Mel is charismatic so the day flew by. Most enjoyable was that I could actually take away something of value- the adult ego state or as I like to call it- "Adulting". This will definitely be a conscious choice to make this a starting point for my work communications moving forwards so that it eventually becomes the norm for me.
Don’t miss out. Receive updates on the funded courses available in your area as they become available
