About the Councils’ Management Development Programme

The Warwickshire Consortium’s Management Development Programme provides managers at all levels with the ability to gain an internationally-recognised qualification in leadership and management as descibed below.

This training allows managers to step back from their busy roles for short periods of time and learn new skills which can help them enormously in terms of their performance, their team’s performance and their own career progression.

Courses also allow our managers to meet and mix with other managers working at similar levels in other organisations. This helps us all to gather a valuable perspective of how other people and organisations handle similar management and leadership challenges.

Costs and Internal Accounting

You can speak to your internal contact (listed above) to discuss pricing of courses or programmes.

How Impellus ILM Awards work

ILM Award Level 3

Level 3 is for all managers and leaders who are (or aspire to be) managing people or teams. Delegates typically have diverse experience, from first-time team supervisors to much more experienced managers who have no formal training or qualification.

These courses can be taken individually or to complete the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management. Call 0800 619 1230 for more information.

ILM Award Level 5

Level 5 is for all managers and leaders who are (or aspire to be) managing through another management level or are leading senior people. Delegates are typically from middle and senior management.

Each Level 5 course module consists of two consecutive days of training.

These courses can be taken individually or to complete the ILM Level 5 Award in Leadership and Management. Call 0800 619 1230 for more information.

Each ILM delegate must take a core management and leadership module (course) plus the appropriate number of optional modules for their level. They then have a follow-up learning period, using further Impellus management training resources – this includes an online portal to ensure development is continuously applied in the workplace. Once details of this have been submitted via the online portal, (a copy of this is provided to the programme booker or leader as a report) their work is assessed by the ILM.

CPD Points

Each day of training (course) equates to 5.25 CPD points towards your own management development programme.

How much work is required to pass an ILM Award?

ILM approved Managers are proven to perform at a higher level than Managers without the qualification.

Passing an ILM Award is about you being able to interpret the material covered in the courses into real benefit and improvement in your role. Every course is geared to help you to bring new skills and ways of thinking back into the workplace and the accreditation process is about writing that up to pass the Award and cement improvements in your performance.

Each individual course has a number of questions and a guided word count. It also has a guide for ‘research hours’ – this is a rough guide to how many hours are likely to be needed in terms of trying new skills back in the workplace to enable a good write up. There’s clearly work to do to pass your Award successfully although Managers find that the work done translates into time and performance efficiencies thereafter.

Impellus helps you to make passing easier by providing pass notes in each course book pack as well giving you the examiners’ mark sheets. The assessment is all done online and is fully supported online, over the phone and in-course by the Impellus Training Delivery team.
