There are a number of different skills that your first line managers need and they mostly centre around organising and engaging their direct reports.
For the first time in their careers managers now need to see leadership as their core skill. Not only is this a leap, many line managers find it hard to stop or delegate the ‘day job’ which has a long-term impact on all the qualities of a high performing team and the results of the larger organisation.
